Mission:
[MAIN] From The Ashes
Location: XO's Ready Room
Timeline: After "Extraction"
The day after his return to 109 by way of the Bomari ship, Damion requested an appointment with Cmdr. Rex. He had some property to return, a minor debt to repay, and some get-well cards to send--figuratively, at least. He was finally feeling more like his normal self. His hair was back to its usual length, and he was eating solid food again. He arrived at Cmdr. Rex's ready room door and pressed the chime.
Heriah sat behind her desk. She did not look up from her work, which had piled up some during her time off, when the chime sounded. Though, Frank had assigned her to the murder investigation, she still had some work to finalize before handing all of her duties over to Paul for the time being. Any new reports were just going to wait for Paul. She applied her final touches on one report and swiped to another. "Enter," she said looking away from the report before it monopolized her attention.
The door slid open, and Damion stepped inside. Well, she was in one piece, at least, Damion thought. He moved toward her desk. "Good afternoon, Commander. Thank you for seeing me," Damion said.
Heriah stood. "And thank you for being so convincing."
'Maybe we should get him to beat you around some more. Seeing how we both enjoyed it.'
"Let's not do that again anytime soon," she said with a smile. "I am happy to see you back safely. As I promised," she glanced down at her terminal, "a Commendation Award."
"Thank you, Commander, but honestly, the fact that you entrusted me with the mission is reward enough," Damion said. "I hope those Trill security agents will stay well away from Mr. Tol for quite a while. How are the two security guards doing?"
"Better," she said. "They were none too happy when I told them you attacking them and escaping was the plan all along. They were doubly confused when they saw the state I was in...had accepted." She straitened and smiled. "The Bajoran security guard, as I understand it, wants to challenge you to an MMA bout. Bajorans do not like to lose. Nor do they like surprise attacks."
"I should perhaps take him up on that," Damion said. "I owe him one." He dug into his uniform pocket and slid a combadge onto Heriah's desk. "I took this for the sake of making the escape look good," he said. "There's a withdrawal and a repayment on your account for some items I needed to buy."
Heriah reclaimed her commbadge and nodded to Damion in full acceptance of whatever hacks he had to make. "And you are right, those two Trill elites being gone and not coming back was the endgame, one that we all accomplished. Again, well done. I trust your time away and travels back to 109 was not met with too many bumps in the road."
"A few days in Sickbay on Starbase 80 and then a couple of days in the pilot's cabin of a Bomari ship," Damion said. "One of the two agents saw me in Sickbay just as I was being beamed to the Bomari ship, so I don't know if he connected that to Tol or not. There's no reason why he should have, but the beam-out likely raised some suspicions. On the other hand, he never saw me here and has no reason to connect me to anything related to Anslo."
"And let's hope that good fortune holds," she said. "We have a full scan of their ship as well as full medical scans of both of them. I suggest committing their profiles to memory, especially their images. Should Ryzhkyn or Rautha show back up aboard 109, I want the captain, the whole of Security, and me to know the second they do. This Rautha character," she said with a touch of both disgust and fright in her voice, "I've done a PERSONAL LOG about him. I have not changed my Command Authorization Code yet, so do listen to it. These monks seem to dislike anything being written or spoken about them being saved and/or transmitted. Hence why I made a personal log instead of something attached to his profile. Something made public is only going to draw him back here eventually."
"I'll do that," Damion said. "I'd like to know as much about them as possible. There's something psychopathic about them--or it feels that way. The more eyes on them, the better."
"If I understand them well enough, then it would be best to not have eyes on them, but to keep a look out for them. Too many eyes on them...who knows what they will do? It seems, Lieutenant, we may have another foe." She smiled at him. "But what is one more threat am I right?"
"Just means it's Wednesday," Damion said with an answering smile. "Thank you for seeing me, Commander. If there's anything else you need me to do for you, let me know."
'A wild time in the bed.'
"I am sure something will come up that will require your expertise," she said. "You have made yourself indispensable. Keep it up and we may have to add a pip to your collar."
"Thank you, Commander. Have a good day," Damion replied and left, thinking it was a pity that she always had to tie things to reward.
